Only a Few Saved
There were only eight souls saved, during the days of Noah, when the wicked earth was destroyed by the great flood (Genesis 7:23; I Peter 3:20). Only three souls were saved from the destruction of the wicked cities of Sodom and Gomorrah (Genesis 19:30). Jesus said, "Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat: Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it" (Matthew 7:13-14, emp LS).
Hell will be full of wicked folks. The Bible teaches that hell’s population will consist of:
The Devil and His Angels. Jesus, when he speaks of the Judgement Day scene, says to the wicked, "Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels" (Matthew 25:41). All the wicked people that have ever lived on earth shall spend eternity in hell with the devil and his angels.
Many Religious People. Jesus again says, "Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity" (Matthew 7:21-23, emp LS). Jesus says there will be many religious folks that thought they were serving Christ, that will be lost in hell, for they practiced their "good works" without authority. The word "iniquity" simply means, "without law" and is translated "lawlessness" (NASB). My friend, God does want us to do good deeds. But He also wants us to do the good deeds He said do - the way He said do them (Colossians 3:17).
Those Who Refuse To Obey The Gospel. Jesus said, "Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned" (Mark 16:15-16). My friend, to be "damned" or "condemned" means that God will say to you on the Day of Judgement, "depart from me, ye that work iniquity" to a place "prepared for the devil and his angels". When Jesus Christ comes again, He will be "revealed from heaven with his mighty angels, In flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ: Who shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord, and from the glory of his power" (II Thessalonians 1:7-9, emp LS).
Hell will be a place where many folks that have been wicked; that have been religiously wrong; and that have never obeyed the Gospel of Jesus Christ, will spend eternity with the devil and his angels. Make up your mind not to spend eternity with the devil in eternal torment by obeying the truth today!
