The Power of the Gospel for You
"For I am not ashamed of the GOSPEL OF CHRIST: for it is the POWER of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek" (Romans 1:16, emp LS). For the past few weeks we have noticed several examples of the great power of the Gospel of Christ. I hope and pray that you have studied them carefully in the light of God's holy Word. Today, let's bring it a little closer to home.
WHAT IS YOUR CONDITION? The Bible says, "For ALL have sinned, and come short of the glory of God" (Romans 3:23, emp LS). The apostle John says, "If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us" and "If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us" (I John 1:8, 10). My friend, the personal application of this is simply this, you and I are both included in the "all have sinned" and we must "all" come to understand that our sins "have made a separation between you and your God and your sins have hid His face from you" (Isaiah 59:2). To be separated from God and to have His face hid from us is eternal death in hell for ever and ever (Matthew 25:46)! All this is the bad news. The good news is, there is hope for us all through Christ!
WE ALL NEED TO HEAR THE GOSPEL OF CHRIST TAUGHT. "For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? And how shall they believe in him of whom they HAVE NOT HEARD? and how shall they hear without a preacher" (Romans 10:13-14, emp LS). "But without FAITH it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must BELIEVE that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him" (Hebrews 11:6). My friend, the plain Gospel Truth is, before any of us can be saved from our sins, we must HEAR the Word of God, which is the Gospel of Jesus Christ, because ONLY the Gospel of Christ can produce faith that "cometh by hearing, and hearing BY THE WORD OF GOD" (Romans 10:17, emp LS).
WE ALL NEED THE SAVING POWER OF THE GOSPEL OF CHRIST. Jesus said, "Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned" (Mark16:15-16). The apostle Peter preached the Gospel of Christ on the day of Pentecost and said, "Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost" (Acts 2:38). Paul said to the Corinthians "Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the GOSPEL which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; By which also ye are SAVED, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain" (I Corinthians 15:1-2).
WHERE DO YOU STAND? Why not believe and confess Jesus as the Christ, repent of your sins, and be baptized for the forgiveness of every sin TODAY! Jesus is calling YOU. May we help YOU today to be saved?
